Georgina Chapman has finally spoken out for the first since the New York Times broke the story about her estranged husband, Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct scandal that sparked the Me Too movement last fall??In a profile by Vogue, The English fashion designer claims that she had no idea about her soon-to-be-ex husband’s sexual misconduct prior to the expose-??Saying “I had what I thought was a very happy marriage.
I loved my life.” ??And after the scandal, she even went so far as locking herself in her home, as she felt it would be disrespectful to the survivors if she went out, and that she was humiliated and so broken.??She says “There was a part of me that was terribly naive — clearly, so naive,” about the allegations.??When asked about Weinstein’s current state of mind, who she is still in contact with for legal and familial issues, she told Vogue:??“Clearly when I was married to him I didn’t know anything about his state of mind, so I’m probably not the best person to ask.” ??But Huffington Post reporter Yashar Ali says the Vogue piece is dubious at best.??Having previously planned his own profile on Chapman and after speaking to at least a dozen women who had been victims of Weinstein-??He paints a different picture of Chapman. ??Saying her ignorance is unbelievable given what he calls quote: “...credible rumors of his sexual predation.” ??Even saying that two of Weinstein’s accusers recounted misogynistic remarks while in Chapman’s presence.??He also notes that the vogue profile fails to disclose that Chapman is restricted by a nondisclosure agreement.
Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue says in her editor’s letter “I am firmly convinced that Georgina had no idea about her husband’s behavior”
