Madhuri ma’am is very supportive: Sumedh Mudgalkar

When actor Sumedh Mudgalkar was offered a role in his upcoming Marathi film, he was curious about the rest of the star cast. However, all he was told was that it involved a megastar. “I was called in after they watched the trailer of my debut film Manjha (2017). It wasn’t an offer of the lead role, but I was told by the casting director that they need me in the film. And, when I got to know it is Madhuri mam, then obviously , who doesn’t want to work with her?” says Sumedh, who plays Salil in Tejas Deoskar’s Bucket List.

Sharing his experience for working with Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Sumedh says, “I was nervous and asked her for a high five. She immediately obliged and told me not be nervous. She is a very accommodating actor and has no baggage of being a superstar. Her enthusiasm and excitement on sets is amazing. She really made me comfortable on the sets and supported me through every scene.”

Recalling one particular scene, Sumedh adds, “I was to get emotional and cry in the scene. However, the director wanted it to be natural, he did not want it to look forced or like acting. Madhuri ma’am gave me such excellent cues during the scene, just through her eyes, that I immediately and genuinely cried in the scene. Such is her acting prowess, where she lives and breathes the character.”

He shares that as an actor she constantly ensures that everyone on the set is comfortable and getting their scenes right. “She is a thorough professional and very punctual. Not once we saw her become tired or irritated. She was like a fresh breath of air every single moment on the sets. I learnt so much from her.”
