Vinay Bansal, arrested by
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with irregularities in the PWD case, was on Thursday sent to one-day judicial custody by a Delhi court. It denied the ACB's plea for three-day police remand saying Bansal is not medically fit.
The police sought three days of remand for investigation deeper into the case. Bansal, however, fainted in court and after the court perused his medical report it showed his BP on the higher side. The staffers of an ambulance stationed outside the court. "Since, medical condition of the accused is not good, I do not consider it appropriate to send him to police custody today," held duty metropolitan magistrate Neeti
Suri Mishra.
The accused has been identified as Vinay Bansal, the son of Kejriwal's late brother-in-law Surendra Bansal.
In 2017, the ACB had registered three FIRs in the case, of which one was against a firm owned by Surender Bansal. Another FIR was against Renu Constructions, also owned by Bansal. The other two firms being investigated are owned by Pawan Kumar and Kamal Singh.
After registering the FIRs, the ACB had examined six engineers of the public works department (PWD) in connection with their probe into alleged irregularities in awarding work contracts to firms.
