Indore: 77 government doctors face inquiry for long absence

Indore: The state health department has begun departmental inquiry against 77 government doctors from across the state for not coming to work since a long time. They include two doctors from Indore. A doctor posted in community health centre in Sanwer (Indore district) has not come to work for six years.

Another doctor has not reported for work in last three years. The list of doctors includes those who are absent since 2010. District chief medical and health officer Dr HN Nayak said departmental inquiry against Dr Trupti Bhargava and Dr Bhupesh Mahawar has begun on his recommendations.

“Dr Bhupesh Mahawar is not coming to work since August 2012 while Dr Trupti Bhargava has not reported since October 2016,” Dr Nayak told Free Press. He said department sent several notices to the doctors but they did not respond to the letter. “Nor are they re-joining the work.  Though these doctors have not reported for work, department records show their posts as filled.

The department has asked the health officer of every district to send the information of doctors who are absent for a long time. The health officers have been told to inform about absentee doctors’ date of joining, date from which they are on leave and dates when they were sent reminders.

The health department has appointed retired additional secretary Girish Kumar Negi and retired joint collector RC Saxena to investigate the matter. “We have sent all the required information to the department regarding the two doctors in our jurisdiction,” Dr Nayak added.
