The flight that was headed for Orlando in Florida was carrying 156 passengers and six crew members on board when an indicator light in the cockpit reported the problem as per a spokesperson.
Thereafter it had landed safely around 7.19 a.m.
The Boeing 737 had taken off around 6.51 a.m. All the passengers were shifted to another alternative airplane that departed JFK just a little after 9 a.m. A spokesperson of American Airlines mentioned that they had no plans to disrupt the travel plans of customers and they also apologized for the trouble it had caused.
Many airplanes had been compelled to opt for emergency landing, of late.
An flight of Southwest Airlines had to go for an emergency landing in Philadelphia and a woman was killed in the incident.
