Cape Town – According to CNN, BBC and The Independent, hip-hop entrepreneur Dr Dre has lost a trademark battle with a gynaecologist with a similar name.
The producer, rapper and record label boss lodged a case with the US trademark office in 2015 after Pennsylvania real-life doctor Draion Burch, applied to register the name Dr Drai.
The medic is a media personality and author of books including 20 Things You May Not Know About the Vagina.
Dr Dre - who is a doctor in name alone - claimed the physician’s trademark could cause confusion, particularly since his almost-namesake wanted to sell audio books, podcasts and MP3s.
