Claymont High School senior Jerome Tucker signed a national letter of intent to run for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles cross country and track & field teams.

Tucker was a four-year letter winner for the Mustangs track & field and wrestling teams and a three-year letter winner in cross country. He was a state qualifier in wrestling his senior year. He has been very active in clubs and organizations at Claymont and in the Twin City community. Tucker has been the Sunday School secretary at his church for four years, a drummer and member of the church travel choir for four years, participated in the Christmas program at Claymont for four years, has been named Student of the Month and Athlete of the Month, served in the student Rotary Club and was elected as class officer and was Youth President of the Northeastern District Baptist Association (NEDBA) for three years. He plans to major in mechanical engineering at Kent State Tuscarawas and also plans to wrestle for the Golden Eagles.

“We are getting a solid student and a real community-minded young man and we are proud to welcome him as a Golden Eagle,” said Mark Albaugh, head cross country and track & field coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. “He is a well-rounded athlete and individual and he has accomplished more at a young age than most people three times his age have achieved. We look to Jerome for leadership and think that he will be a huge asset to our team and campus.”
