Halton police have charged a 63-year-old Oakville ride-share driver with sexually assaulting his female passenger.

Police say the OPP responded to a call from an 18-year-old female passenger of a ride-sharing service on Sunday along the QEW in Burlington.

According to police, the woman alleged that the 63-year-old Oakville man who was driver her, made unwanted sexual contact with her.

Police say it happened on the way to Hamilton.

As a result of a joint investigation, Halton police have charged the driver with sexual assault.

Halton police did not say what ride-share company the driver was working for.

He was released on a promise to appear in court May 30 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Milton.
