Fuel prices increased – prices to adjust every two months (UPDATE)

Lanka IOC has decided to adjust it’s fuel prices in line with Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

16:20 – Update:

Minister Mangala Samaraweera has announced that fuel prices will adjust every two months under the new price formula. The Minister said: “It can increase or decrease”.

13:04 – Update:

92 octane petrol (1 ltr): Rs. 137.00 (increased by Rs. 20)

95 octane petrol (1 ltr): Rs. 148.00 (increased by Rs.20)

Lanka auto diesel (1 ltr): Rs. 109.00 (increased by Rs. 14)

Super diesel (1 ltr): Rs. 119.00 (increased by Rs. 9)

Kerosine oil (1 ltr): Rs. 101.00 (increased by Rs. 57)

*The new prices will come into effect tonight at midnight.

13:00 – “A situation has arisen where the fuel prices will definitely have to be increased,” says Minister of Science, Technology, and Research, Dr. Sarath Amunugama.

The Minister made the announcement a short while ago during a media briefing at the Government Information Department.

Dr. Amunugama said the decision will be reached after taking the global oil prices into account.
