New Girl's final season on Fox was thought to mark the end of an era of hangout comedies on the network, but that's a lie as Fox has ordered the comedy Old Men for its 2018-2019 fall TV schedule.
OK, it's not called Old Men but it may as well be. Cool Kids will follow a trio of guys in a retirement community who find their status as leaders of the building challenged when a new girl (yeah, I did that) shows up to take them on. It's three guys and one spunky girl all over again! It's also like if CBS' We Are Men was never canceled and made it to Season 31.
The cast is pretty spectacular. Martin Mull, David Alan Grier and Leslie Jordan will play the men, and Vicki Lawrence will play the woman who turns their lives upside down. The series was written by It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Charlie Day and Paul Fruchborn.

On the more serious side, Fox has also ordered Proven Innocent. The legal drama's twist on the crowded genre? It follows a firm that specializes in wrongful convictions, i.e. those who have been found guilty but who aren't. Leading the team is a real ballbuster named Madeline Scott (Rachelle Lefevre), who herself was the victim of a wrongful conviction when she was younger. She was later exonerated, and some want to see her go down for the crime they think she committed. Russell Hornsby, Nikki James and Vincent Kartheiser.
Fox previously picked up the new drama The Passage. The network will announce its 2018-2019 fall schedule early next week.
