BEIJING—Kim Jong Un’s trip to China this week, his first known overseas flight as North Korea’s leader, looks like a logistical dry run for a summit with President Donald Trump.
The summit appears to be set for Singapore after Mr. Trump on Wednesday ruled out meeting Mr. Kim at the demilitarized zone between the two Koreas, a location he previously shortlisted alongside the city-state. The president said a date has been fixed, without giving details; he earlier said he expected the summit to take place by June.
