This discount is valid for travel on the following trains: Illini/Saluki, Illinois Zephyr/Carl Sandburg and Lincoln Service, sponsored by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT); Hoosier State, sponsored by the Indiana Department of Transportation; Wolverine Service, Blue Water and Pere Marquette, sponsored by the Michigan Department of Transportation; Missouri River Runner, sponsored by the Missouri Department of Transportation and Hiawatha Service, sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation with IDOT. It is also valid on most Amtrak Thruway Buses associated with these trains.
Together known as Amtrak Midwest(SM), these trains are primarily powered by with a Midwest-made diesel engine. They carried more than 3 million passengers in the 12 months ending Sept. 30, 2017, an increase of more than four percent from the previous year.
