Nodal officer to be appointed for SBIS-2018

Chandigarh:  With a view to implement ‘Swachh Bharat Internship Scheme (SBIS)-2018' in all the educational institutions under Haryana Higher Education Department, a nodal officer would be appointed and one committee would  be formed in these institutes. A spokesperson said this decision was taken during the meeting through video conference under the chairmanship of Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.  The committee would guide the Student interns, would monitor the Scheme and evaluate the work done by the interns. The nodal officer would be fully responsible and would ensure registering the students of the concerned institution in this scheme. The last date for students who wish to register is May 15.

two power lifters from Punjab bag gold medals

Chandigarh: Two powerlifters from Punjab namely Inderjit Singh and Jasmine Kaur have proved their mettle in the recently held Asian Power lifting Championship at Udaipur by bagging gold medals. Punjab Sports Minister, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi has congratulated both the players for this exceptional achievement and has credited their coaches as well as parents for the success. Power lifters from as many as 14 nations competed in the championship. While Inderjit Singh won gold in 105 KG category by lifting 760 KG weight, Jasmine Kaur won gold medal in 84plus KG category by lifting 335 KG weight. Both the power lifters belong to Bhim Akhara Centre in Bathinda where they were trained by coach Parminder Singh.

Manpreet Badal inaugurates MSFL’s Line 5

Railmajra (Ropar): Max Speciality Films Limited (MSFL) has launched its fifth BOPP films manufacturing line (Line 5) here increasing its capacity from 46.35 KTPA to 80.85 KTPA. The new line was launched at a special inaugural ceremony by Manpreet Singh Badal, Punjab Finance Minister.

Two IPS officers promoted 

Chandigarh: Haryana Government has promoted two IPS officers to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (Super time scale) with immediate effect .A spokesman said that those promoted included Satender Kumar Gupta and B. Satheesh Balan.

HRY to purchase land measuring 280 acres

Chandigarh: Haryana Government has decided to purchase land measuring 280 acres, seven kanal and three marla situated in Karnal district adjacent to Karnal Aerodrome on voluntary basis for the renovation of Karnal Airport. A spokesman said that all the interested owners of this land wishing to sell their land voluntarily have been asked to contact office of Deputy Commissioner, Karnal within one month. More details about the land could be obtained from the website www.haraviation.gov.in.

Gynae camp for mothers and teachers

Zirakpur: Body Mass Index (BMI) and Gynae camp was held here for mothers of students and teachers of Shemrock Foundation School. Around 50 mothers and female staff members of the school were examined in the camp, which was organised by Paras Bliss Hospital, Panchkula as a part of Mother’s Day celebrations. The camp was organised to have a routine gynae and BMI check-up of mothers and also to make them aware about healthy living.
