Holy crap, Morty!
Adult Swim just gave Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon's cult hit animated series Rick and Morty a massive 70-episode order, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The supersized renewal -- which Adult Swim is describing as a "longterm deal" -- will bring the total episode count to 101, which brings the series to the magic number needed for syndication, plus one for good measure.
There's no timeframe for the 70 episodes, but given that Rick and Morty has so far only aired 31 episodes over three seasons since 2013 and has taken year-and-a-half gaps between seasons, it's going to be on for a long, long time.
Co-creators Roiland and Harmon announced the renewal (sort of) in a video from Harmon's shower.
Rick and Morty, which follows depressive alcoholic scientist Rick Sanchez and his impressionable young grandson Morty in a dark twist on Back to the Future, is TV's #1 comedy among millennials, beating out huge network shows like The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family in the 18-34 demographic in 2017.
The show has also attracted controversy for its fans' behavior, which has included harassing the show's women writers and rioting at McDonald's restaurants across the country over a dipping sauce promotion.
A 70 episode renewal. What a time to be alive.
Rick and Morty's first three seasons are available to stream on Hulu.
