Earlier this year, the legendary boxer hinted that he wants to try his hand at mixed martial arts, much to the shock of the combat sports world.

Mayweather's suggestions that he’s willing to swap the ring for the Octagon further fuelled talk of a rematch with Conor McGregor, who he defeated in a boxing match last August.

But judging from his latest comments on a potential move to the UFC, Mayweather vs McGregor II may not come to fruition.

“I’m an old man now so you know, there’s no more fighting for Floyd Mayweather,” the Michigan native told when asked about a potential mixed martial arts fight.

Although there’s a multi-million-pound payday awaiting him in the , Mayweather isn’t thinking about re-entering the fight game.

“I’m not thinking about fighting right now,” the former five-weight world champion added.

"As of right now, I'm touring around the world, doing different things, embracing my fans, getting love from all around the world, right now I'm just travelling.

Although Mayweather has publicly poured cold water on a mixed martial arts fight and a rematch with McGregor, his long-time bodyguard Greg La Rosa believes we could see him grace the Octagon.

“I think he might do it. I think he might come back. (You) never know,” La Rosa said during an appearance on MMA Junkie Radio.

“I don’t know who it would be against, because that stuff would be all behind the scenes, a little out of my reach. But I think he might do it.

“A lot of people are calling bulls**t on this one, but we’ll just have to see.

“He’s around camp, he’s talking about it, and he’s not kidding when he talks to Jim Gray there and says if I come back it’ll be for MMA.

"That’s not a joke that he’s making.”

When pressed further, La Rosa, who was recently shot, added: “Man, if I had to guess, I’d say it’s closer to happening.”

He's unlikely to return to action any time soon due to his ongoing legal troubles, which could have huge repercussions for his career.
