Actor Sivakarthikeyan, who rose to fame with blockbusters such as Ethir Neechal, Rajini Murugan and Remo, will join hands with director Rajesh for his next project. The film was officially launched with a customary puja last Wednesday in Chennai. Last evening, the makers announced that Nayanthara has been signed as the leading lady, making it her second collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan after last year’s Velaikkaran.

The project is currently being referred as SK 13.

Studio Green will be bankrolling the project which took off after nearly two years of delay. Originally planned to be made in 2016, Studio Green had later announced that Thaana Serntha Kootam director Vignesh Shivan will direct Sivakarthikeyan in their banner. However, the Vignesh-Siva combo didn’t materialize. Left with no option, Studio Green had to rope in Rajesh, best known for films such as SMS and Boss Engira Bhaskaran, to take over the reins.

Sivakarthikeyan took to Twitter soon after the launch of the project and wrote: “It’s official. Next film with @rajeshmdirector sir and @StudioGreen2 @kegvraja sir. Can certainly say that we will put in our best effort to entertain you all.”

The launch was attended by Siva, director Rajesh, producer Gnananvel Raja and actor Sathish, who plays a crucial role in the film. The rest of the cast and crew will be finalised soon.

Last seen playing a blue-collared worker in Velaikkaran, Siva recently wrapped up shooting for rural comedy drama Seemaraja, which marks his third collaboration with director Ponram. He is expected to commence work on Ravi Kumar’s unnamed science-fiction film, which will have music by AR Rahman, from May or June.
