Mr. Madalli who fell unconscious after suffering a head injury was rushed to a private hospital immediately

Congress leader and President of Dharwad district unit H.V. Madalli, who had suffered head injury after a fall from bullock cart, died at a private hospital here on Wednesday.

Mr. Madalli had fallen from a bullock cart while canvassing for party candidate Vinod Asuti at Shalavadi in Navalgund taluk on Monday night.

Mr. Madalli who fell unconscious after suffering a head injury was rushed to a private hospital immediately. However he reportedly didn't respond to treatment and breathed his last on Monday morning.

AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal and others had visited the hospital on Tuesday night and AICC President Rahul Gandhi had spoken to Mr. Madalli's son over telephone.

Congress leader and former Home Minister of Karnataka G. Parameshwara took to Twitter to convey his condolences.

"Heartfelt condolences on the passing away of H V Madalli, DCC President, Dharwad Rural. He was a relentless worker and a sincere political leader. A great loss to INCKarnataka. May his soul rest in peace and god give strength to his family members during these trying times," he wrote.
