Michael Cohen's lawyers attack Avenatti's memo

Lawyers for President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen claim that much of the financial information in a report released by a lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels is "completely inaccurate." Cohen's legal team told a New York judge Wednesday that Daniels's lawyer, Michael Avenatti, has made "numerous incorrect statements" publicly since releasing information related to Cohen on Tuesday, a release pulling in AT&T Swiss drugmaker Novartis and Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg. The Cohen team says Avenatti made statements "in an apparent attempt to prejudice and discredit Cohen" after April 9 raids on his home and office, the Associated Press reported. The raids were carried out by federal agents looking for evidence in a criminal probe. Cohen paid Daniels after her claims of a relationship with Trump, which the president has denied. Avenatti responded Wednesday night on Twitter, calling Cohen's filing Wednesday "baseless, improper and sanctionable."
