Genoa-Kingston blanked Oregon, 10-0, behind a solid performance from starting pitcher Nick Gargani on Tuesday.
Gargani pitched all five innings, allowing only two hits and striking out seven. He also led the Cogs at the plate, going 3 for 4 with three RBIs.
Will Franson finished 3 for 4, Kelley Creadon went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and Justin Peters went 2 for 2 with a walk and a run scored.
The Cogs (11-7) travel to Oregon at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Kaneland falls apart late versus Morris: Kaneland surrendered seven runs in the final three innings as the Knights lost to Morris, 8-1.
The game was tied at one through four innings. However, Morris ran away in the fifth inning when it scored two runs. Morris added two more runs in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Kaneland starter Reece Sowell took the loss. He gave up three runs and seven hits, while striking out three in five innings.
Logan Piercy, Luke Gomes and Nick Ortegel each collected a hit for the Knights.
Both teams conclude the three-game series with a rubber match at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
I-C finishes Serena early: Indian Creek defeated Serena, 13-3, in six innings.
The Timberwolves’ bats were hot against Serena, as Jordan Morris went 4 for 4 with four RBIs, Tyler Swanson finished 4 for 5 with three RBIs, and RJ McCoy went 2 for 4 with three RBIs.
Indian Creek starter Ray Ragan improved to 4-3.
The Timberwolves (12-10-1) travel to the Illinois Music and Science Academy at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Knights take early lead against Ottawa: Kaneland jumped out to an early lead during a 5-2 victory over Ottawa.
Donatela Sommesi homered to put the Knights on the board in the first inning. Oliva Ortegel added another run with an RBI single. Hannah Theobald belted Kaneland’s second home run during the fifth inning.
Kaneland (15-7) hosts Rochelle at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Madison Wagner led G-K at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs. Leea Perry, Cassie Bade and Ashley Peterson each recorded two hits.
G-K starting pitcher Ashley Clemente picked up the win, lasting four innings, while Olivia Simmons finished off the Hawks in the final three innings.
The Cogs (13-9) host Rockford Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
