Three years rigorous imprisonment to then executive engineer of railway in a bribery case

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Bhopal has sentenced Shri S.B.Sharma, then Executive Engineer, Western Central Railway, Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh) to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.30,000/- in a bribery case.

CBI had registered a case U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 on 22.05.2010 on a complaint against Shri S.B.Sharma, Executive Engineer, Track Machine Depot, Western Central Railway, Bhopal alleging that the accused demanded a bribe amount @ 1% of the bills amounting to Rs.84 Lakh released to the complainant against the work of “Habibganj extension of shed in track machine depot” and also for unpaid & ensuing bills of the complainant. CBI laid a trap on 22.5.2010 and caught the accused while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant at his residence.

After completion of investigation, a Charge-sheet was filed on 30.12.2010 in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bhopal.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
