An apartment building was riddled with bullet holes during consecutive days and Volusia County sheriff's detectives suspect it may be drug-related, according to reports.
Bullet holes were found at 6:11 a.m. Monday and again at 11:49 p.m. Tuesday at 1502 Old Kings Road, between Nova and Derbyshire roads, deputies said.
"Both of these cases are still active," sheriff's spokesman Andrew Gant said.
Deputies found five bullet holes in one of the abandoned apartments after responding Monday morning, records show. They responded after hearing a call that a brick had been through through a vehicle window on the property. While on the scene, a deputy found shell casings on the ground and holes in the building, according to the Sheriff's Office.
One of the occupants in one of the other apartments told authorities that her son was involved in drug activity and people were upset with him, deputies said.
On Tuesday night, a woman was in the bathroom of one of the apartments when she heard a gunshot, according to the Sheriff's Office. She saw a hole in the bathroom wall and deputies discovered that several other rounds had struck the building. At least two of those bullets had penetrated walls, deputies said.
Gant said the vacant unit was the only one struck by bullets Monday, but the bullets that were fired Tuesday struck both units.
