Preparation for Hanuman Jayanti in full swing

Elaborate arrangements are underway for Hanuman Jayanti celebrations on May 10 at the Sri Anjaneya Swamy devasthanam in Kondagattu of Mallial mandal.

In the wake of the prevailing heat conditionsand anticipated pilgrim rush at the temple, the authorities have erected temporary pandals and shamianas.

As a precautionary measure, vehicles are barred on the ghat road; the pilgrims would be made to park at the foothills of the shrine and walk up through steps or the ghat road.

Collector A. Sharath visited the temple on Monday evening and Tuesday morning to oversee the arrangements. Following complaints of water problems, the Collector said 20 water tankers at as many locations would be deployed and an equal number of water kiosks would be set up.

Two holy tanks, including the newly constructed ‘dharmagundam’, would be filled with water to ensure that the pilgrims take a dip before offering prayers to the presiding deity, he said, adding that a five lakh litre capacity sump has been made available to provide water to the temple town.
