Five file nominations for Gomia byelection

A total of five candidates including ex-Minister Madhav Lal Singh filed their nomination papers as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Gomia Assembly constituency here on Tuesday. 

On Monday Dr Lambodar Mahto of the AJSU Party, filed his nomination papers. Aprt from Singh and Mahto, Babita Devi of JMM, Umesh Kumar Mahto from JMM Ulgulan and Nikhil Soren (Independent) filed their nomination said Bermo SDM cum Electoral Officer Prem Ranjan. Ranjan said scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done May 11 and the last date of withdrawal is May 14,while the by- poll will held on May from 7am to 3pm and counting of votes will be done on May 31 from 8am to till announcement of results, added SDM. After six days of waiting and with just two more days remaining for end of nomination filing period, only 22 candidates from various parties including independent filed their nomination papers till today to contest the polls.
