Cape Town - Everton boss Sam Allardyce reckons only a big offer would tempt captain Wayne Rooney to leave Goodison Park during the off-season.

The 32-year-old striker re-joined his boyhood club at the start of the season after 13 years at Manchester United, but is said to have attracted interest from Major League Soccer. 

Allardyce confirmed that he is aware of rumours linking the former England international with clubs in the United States and China.

"Yes. There are rumours about Wayne going elsewhere abroad - in China and America - but at the moment he is an Everton player and an Everton fan," Big Sam told Talksport.

"So I wouldn't consider anything on the cards at the moment. It would have to be massive for him to want to leave Everton."

Allardyce stated that he has a good working relationship with Rooney and would be happy to retain his services going into the new campaign.

"I've not had a problem from day one with Wayne," he added. "Wayne loves his football, he loves training, he wants to play and play well like everybody else.

"Obviously because of who he is there's ultimately more attention around his body language, about how he plays, about what he is and isn't doing.

"We all have to deal with that in our own way and I think Wayne deals with it very well indeed."
