State Government clears budget for intra-state roads

To facilitate better road connectivity to the public and boost local trade, the state government cleared the budget for laying of 54 intra-state roads on Tuesday. The government also cleared first installment of Rs 199.87 crore to start the work. On Tuesday, Secretary (PWD), Samir Verma said that the total length of the 54 intra-state connectivity road will be 667.04 kiolmeters involving a total expenditure of 133252.82 lakhs.

Verma said that of the sanctioned inter-state connectivity roads, 10 link roads are sanctioned for Agra, 15 for Gorakhpur, 14 for Jhansi, 7 for Varanasi, 2 each for Moradabad and Meerut, and one each for Azamgarh, Lucknow, Bareilly and Faizabad. He said that work on this would soon begin with transparency besides maintaining the quality. 

Verma said that after the completion of work, anyone coming to Uttar Pradesh would appreciate state roads as compared to the ones in neighbouring states or any other part of the country.
