CSK’s Wood to miss rest of season

Pacer to target England recall

England paceman Mark Wood will not be available to Chennai Super Kings for the remainder of IPL-11.

The 28-year-old Wood will be travelling back to England to prepare for the English summer that includes a five-Test series against India.

CSK sources revealed to The Hindu that it had already been decided — at the time of signing — that Wood, who has been a part of the Test and ODI side, would return home at this stage of the IPL if in the short list for England selection.

Wood figured in just one game for Super Kings and failed to make an impression, going for 49 runs in his four overs in the away game against Mumbai Indians without getting a wicket.

That was CSK’s inaugural match of the season and Wood has failed to get a look-in after that, with Lungi Ngidi, the other overseas paceman in the side, consolidating his place.

Wood said in his instagram post, “Having worked so hard to get back into the Test team and because I am not currently in the CSK side, I am coming home to play for Durham to hopefully put my name in the hat for Test match selection.”
