The leader of the UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s hospital in Cedar Rapids has been named as interim head of the UnityPoint Health hospital in Dubuque.

Ted Townsend has been appointed the interim president and CEO of UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque. He will maintain his role as the president and CEO of UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids until a replacement can be found in Dubuque, according to a news release from the health care network Wednesday.

Townsend, who was chosen by the UnityPoint Health—Dubuque board of directors, will begin his position on June 1.

A major priority, Townsend said, will be developing a long-term recruitment plan for a new head of Finley Hospital.
