‘Rahul never slept inside ambulance’

Family had planned his marriage

Family of Rahul Saxena, one of the two who died in the ambulance fire, claimed that this was the first time he slept inside the ambulance in his one and a half year service with Rana Ambulances.

“We used to speak over the phone daily. He stayed at one of the old age homes run by the organisation. It was the first time he was sleeping inside the ambulance,” his brother Shubham Saxena, said.

‘Water shortage’

When questioned why was Rahul inside the ambulance, it’s owner S.P. Rana said that the deceased had plans to visit another old age home on Tuesday morning. “He was staying at one of old age homes in south Delhi which had a water shortage problem. So, he decided to stay at the one in Sainik Farms. Rahul said that he will go there with the ambulance in the morning as it was supposed to go in that direction,” Mr. Rana said. His family also said that they were planning his wedding and had already decided on the bride. “We had met the girl’s family. We were planning the marriage by year end or early next year,” his cousin said.
