RANCHI: Jharkhand government has assured the family members of the labourers abducted in Afghanistan of safe and quick rescue. Chief minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday tweeted that Centre is making best effort for release of the abducted labourers. “We hope that our labourer brothers would be back hale and hearty. During the hour of crisis not just Jharkhand but people from all over the country are with the families and praying for the safe return of their sons,” Das tweeted.
Chief secretary Sudhir Kumar Tripathy said that the government was in constant touch with the ministry of external affairs (MEA) for safe release of the abducted labourers. “MEA has engaged its team to negotiate at the appropriate level and we are confident that the government of Afghanistan would leave no stones unturned,” he said.

Ghaghra village under
Bagodar police station of Giridih district. Close aide of Rai told TOI that all the local leaders have visited the family members of the labourers in Bagodar and have expressed their support to the families in crisis. Local MLA Nagendra Mahto also visited the families on Wednesday and apprised them of the steps being taken by the government. “Though we are not aware of the nitty gritties involved in negotiations for safe release of the labourers, we are confident that the centre and state would take appropriate and requisite steps for their safe return,” he said.
Out of the six Indian labourers abducted in Afghanistan by suspected Taliban militants four are from Jharkhand. Three among them Prasadi Mahto, Prakash Mahto and
Hulas Mahto belong to Ghaghra village under Bagodar PS whereas one Kali Mahto is a resident of
Tatijharia block in Hazaribag district. All four were working on transmission line project of one KEC company.
