Augmented Reality (AR) has clearly dominated Google I/O 2018. The search giant is gradually bringing AR to the core of most of our everyday applications, including Google Maps.
Google announced a new AR mode for its Maps. The feature essentially brings Street View and merges it with map overlays and location-based positioning for an easy-to-use navigation, TechCrunch reports.
The demo showed off how the large part of the navigation screen includes the street image captured by the on-board camera. The turn-by-turn directions are provided with large arrows, while a small half-circle displays you some context of where you are and how long it will take you to reach the destination.
