Government launches 145 ambulances

The State government launched 145 ambulances on Monday, replacing an equal number of older ones in the State’s fleet of 316 ambulances.

The new ambulances are better equipped, Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy said during the flag-off. The new ambulances have a ventilator and basic critical care facilities, crucial in trauma and cardiovascular-related emergencies.

The ambulances will be operated by GVK’s EMRI, which provides ambulance services through the 108 call number.

Earlier this year, the government had relaunched bike ambulances to provide emergency medical care during peak traffic hours and in areas inaccessible due to narrow roads. The State also has a dedicated ambulance service for pregnant woman and new mothers.
