Losing ground

Sir — Looks like former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is maun no more, well at least not these days in Bengaluru. The wheel seems to have turned a full circle. In the run up to the 2014 election, Singh was personally targeted by Narendra Modi for the failures of the UPA Government; four years later, the shoe is on the other foot.

Less than a month after Singh asked Prime Minister Modi to “follow the advice he gave to him and speak more often”, the former Prime Minister rightly launched a scathing attack on the BJP Government, hauling at it on a range of issues from the polarisation to the state to the Indian economy. In fact, in the high-octane Karnataka poll campaign, the former Prime Minister’s speech in Bengaluru was scathing, but tempered. The BJP should not take criticism lightly.
