Ujjain: Collector Manish Singh conducted a flash inspection of Chimanganj Krishi Upaj Mandi on Tuesday after receiving complaints of purchase crops on lower rates by some merchants.
During his visit he spoke to grain merchants and told them that purchases should be made at appropriate rates of the crops from the farmers, although the Government under the Bhavantar Yojana paid the rate difference with a minimum support price (MSP) to farmers for their crops. The collector warned traders that action would be taken against those who intentionally purchased crops at lower rates from farmers.
The collector also visited purchase centres and instructed officials to purchase crops even after 7 pm on working days. Singh spoke to famers and took stock of their problems, assuring them of solving them as soon as possible if there were any. Mandi committee president Bahadur Singh Bormundla told Free Press that the procurement process was almost normal and there was no dispute now.
