Phagwara(Puneet Pal Singh) – A 3-member Special Investigating Team(SIT) has been formed to probe the April 13 clash between two communal groups over the renaming of the Gol chowk at Phagwara which left a Dalit youth dead. SIT will investigate the cases registered against both groups and submit its report.Divulging details SSP Kapurthala, Sandeep Sharma said this SIT will include SP headquarter, Jaskaran Singh Teja, ASP Phagwara Sandeep Malik and DSP headquarter Sohan Lal, police has also included the SC/ST Act in the cases.
The Dalit community has earlier requested Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to form a SIT to reinvestigate all the cases registered against the Dalits after April 13 clash and name of the ‘Gol Chowk’ to be changed to ‘Samvidhan Chowk’.
