The Indian Meteorological Department has stated that there is no need to panic for the people of Jharkhand as only moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and dusty winds has been predicted in the North and North East Parts of the State, which will only provide relief from scorching sun with a drop in mercury by at least 2 degrees in the next 2-3 days. Officials at Meteorological Centre in Ranchi said that moderate rainfall will also prove to be beneficial for the crops.

Remarkably, an alert for intense thunderstorm and heavy rainfall to at least 13 States of northwest and northeast parts of India for the next two days was issued by the Meteorological Department.

“Thunder storm with gusty wind is expected during the next two days in North East parts of the State, especially in Dumka and Pakur while in other parts there will be moderate rainfalls with dusty air and thunderstorm,” said Meteorologist RS Sharma. The alert issued by the meteorological department predicting heavy thunderstorms in north-west and north-east parts of India, will have no impact in Jharkhand at all, he added.

“Moderate rainfall witnessed in almost all parts of Jharkhand will give relief to the people from the scorching sun, besides benefitting the current crops as well as the paddy crops for which farmers will soon start preparing,” said Sharma. He, however, said that the fruits like mango and litchi might get damaged if it gets converted into gusty wind.

Referring to the reasons behind this sudden weather activity, Sharma said that it was due to high surface heating and local moisture formation from the water bodies and was quite a normal phenomenon for such weather conditions.

Meanwhile, temperature of Ranchi soared over 40 degrees Celsius in Ranchi, maximum of this year, due to weakening of the air circular over it due to which people had to face problems throughout the day. Highest temperature was recorded in Dalotnganj with a maximum of 43.99 degrees and minimum of 28.7 degrees. Meteorological department has warned that the temperature might get increased further during the next three days. The States which have been warned of a possible thunderstorm accompanied by squall and hail are — Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Kerala, West Bengal, Sikkim, Punjab and J&K.
