The Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor went on their own mission in Avengers: Infinity War.

As Avengers: Infinity War continues its record-breaking streak at the box office, numbers reveal that India ranks among the film’s top territories in the world. Despite releasing in just 2000 screens in the country - roughly half of a big Bollywood movie - Marvel’s 19th movie has grossed over Rs 200 crore in India, breaking records for Hollywood releases on every single day.

According to Box Office Mojo’s weekend roundup of the film’s international business, Infinity War made $162 million in 54 territories, despite not having released in China, the world’s second biggest movie market yet. Interestingly, India finds itself in the film’s top 5 biggest contributors. Following South Korea ($69 million), UK ($67 million, Mexico ($48 million) and Brazil ($44 million), India comes in at number 5 ($35 million). These are unprecedented numbers for a Hollywood film in India, and Infinity War is all but guaranteed to end up eclipsing Jungle Book’s all-time record.

With a China release scheduled for May 11 - Captain America: Civil War debuted with $98 million there, while Black Panther opened to a solid $66 million - Infinity War will now set its sights on the $2 billion mark globally. Its current total stands at a little over $1.1 billion in just 11 days of release. Only three films have crossed $2 billion in history - James Cameron’s Avatar ($2.7 billion), Titanic ($2.1 billion) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2 billion).

Infinity War is well paced to become the highest grossing entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Iron Man 3 ($1.2 billion), Black Panther ($1.3 billion), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.4 billion) and The Avengers ($1.5 billion) in touching distance.
