Indore: Revoke my deputation to Khandwa or else will commit suicide says surgeon

Indore: A senior surgeon who was recently sent to Khandwa Medical College on deputation on Sunday evening threatened to commit suicide if his deputation order was not cancelled. The threat by the surgeon who was earlier posted at MGM Medical College here caused panic among other faculty members.

Depressed after being sent on deputation without his consent, Professor Dr Ramsharan Raikwar posted on WhatsApp group of medical teachers on Sunday evening that he can commit suicide if the deputation order is not revoked and MGM Medical College dean Dr Sharad Thora will be responsible for it.

“Dean Dr Thora had promised us to revoke the deputation order in three days or he will leave his post. Now, 10 days have passed but no order has been released by Dr Thora yet. Now, we will have to take some action and Dr Thora will be responsible for it,” Dr Raikwar stated on WhatsApp group. He also requested the group members to take care of his children if anything happened to him. Dr Raikwar also mentioned that he had participated in the Medical Council of India’s inspection as per the orders of the dean.

Shocked by the message of Dr Raikwar, many senior faculty members panicked and made attempts to refrain him from taking the extreme step. They assured him that they would talk to dean about it. President of Madhya Pradesh Medical Teachers’ Association Dr Poonam Mathur said, “I called him immediately after reading the message and assured him to talk to the dean. Medical Teachers’ Association supports doctors as their deputation was done without their consent.”

Dr Mathur said commissioner of medical education department has assured to take decision by Tuesday in this regard. Meanwhile, Dr Sharad Thora said that the matter of deputation is pending with officials. We have asked them to take action in this regard,” he said. Dr Raikwar: No serious issue After posting it on social media, Dr R S Raikwar on Monday said it is not a serious matter as they discuss issues on the group normally. “It was just a part of group’s discussion,” he told mediapersons.
