CHENNAI:
PMK founder
S Ramadoss on Tuesday slammed the makers of Tamil adult horror comedy film “Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kutthu” for spoiling Tamil culture. He wanted the
Tamil Nadu government to ban the film, which opened to good response in box office last Friday.
“Films, considered to be a powerful medium to reach out to people, should be made to create awareness on social issues and should not be used merely as a tool to carry cheap content. While several people have called me to complain about the cheap content soon after the film was released, I get to understand that the earlier film of this producer and the director was also on such lines. That film’s success seems to have emboldened them to make one more film in that genre. If this too turns out to be a success, they will come out with one more. There is the danger of others following them, thereby placing the whole society at risk,” Ramadoss said.
According to him, Tamil Nadu is going through a tough phase with issues like NEET and Cauvery. In this scenario, the release of such a film could be termed only as an attempt to divert the attention of the people from the real issues, he said.
“Neither me nor the PMK is against films. I have appreciated good films like ‘Appa’, which highlighted the perils in the education system. But this film will create greater damage to people than drinking and smoking. Hence, Tamil Nadu government should immediately ban this film, which is out to spoil our culture,” Ramadoss said.
