Renovated botanical gallery of Indian Museum to open on Wednesday

The renovated botanical gallery of the will throw its doors open to the public on Wednesday, according to an official release.

The gallery, maintained by Botanical Survey of (BSI), would be inaugurated by of Environment, Forest, Climate Change, Science & Technology Dr along with Keshari Nath

The gallery, after renovation, now has around 16,000 artefacts displayed in renovated showcases with a new LED lighting system introduced in the display boxes as well as from the ceiling.

Emphasis has been given for comfort level of visitors during summer through installation of a large number of exhaust fans.

Besides, a new gallery has been set up on the fourth floor of the museum showcasing the different life forms of plants, heritage collections of textiles and natural dyes and manuscripts of The Dictionary of Economic Products of by

Contributions made post-independence by have been displayed in a separate section.

A large central panel accommodates about 150 photographs on the work of British Sir J D Hooker. His contribution in the form of seven volumes of illustrative Flora of British is a major interest for the young visitors.
