WA Police launch investigation after alleged offender hit by cop car

An internal investigation has been launched by WA Police after a teenager was hit by a police car on the weekend.

The drama began during an arrest in Thornlie on Sunday afternoon.

An 18-year-old man had been sought for questioning by police in relation to suspicious activity in the area, police spokesman Adam Brouwer said.

The teen and a police officer were injured during a scuffle.

The man fled, but was arrested shortly after when he was knocked down by a police vehicle.

He was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment to injuries.

The actions of police in relation to the arrest are now the subject of an internal investigation.
Investigations are also continuing into the earlier report of suspicious activity in Thornlie.
