DAYTONA BEACH — Bruce Yari hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, and Wennington Romero allowed just five hits over seven innings as the Daytona Tortugas defeated the Tampa Tarpons 4-1 on Monday.
Aaron Fossas got Angel Aguilar to fly out with the bases loaded to end the game for his second save of the season.
The home run by Yari scored Ibandel Isabel to give the Tortugas a 2-1 lead. Yari went 2 for 4 and is looking to get going this season. He's hitting just .167.
The Tortugas extended their lead in the eighth when Taylor Trammell hit a two-run home run.
Romero (4-0) picked up the win after he struck out four and walked one while allowing one run.
Trevor Stephan (2-1) went 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and three hits in the Florida State League game. He also struck out four and walked four.
Daytona improved to 3-1 against Tampa this season, and moved to a North Division-best 20-10 overall.
