James J. Barkich Beaver James J. Barkich, 90, of Beaver, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018, at his home. Born March 18, 1928, in New Brighton, he was the son of the late James and Caroline Barkich. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. A Beaver resident for the last 60 years, James was employed as an engineer at Westinghouse Electric, Vanport, for his entire 35-year career. He was a member of Park Presbyterian Church, Beaver, and St. James Lodge 457 F&AM. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, in 2017, and three sisters, Ann Lero, Helen Barkich and Jeanne Matteo. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Marci and Jerry Dodds, Enon Valley; five grandchildren, Caitlin Gustafson, Bogota, Colombia; Colleen Dodds, Columbus, Ohio; Jonathan Dodds, Grove City; David Dodds, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Lydia Dodds, Enon Valley, and one great-granddaughter, Ingrid Gustafson, Bogota, Colombia. Friends of the family will be received Wednesday, May 9, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC., 333 Third St., Beaver, where a Masonic service will be performed at 7 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with Reverend Mark Boyd officiating.
