NDMC has cleared 87,000 sqm of encroachment in 10 days

The North Municipal Corporation (NDMC) in its campaign against illegal encroachments on roads and public places has cleared over 87,000 square metres of temporary and permanent unauthorised occupations in the last 10 days.

The civic body has also impounded 231 vehicles during this period from its area.

In a total of 93 actions taken in the last 10 days, 13,405 square metres of permanent and 74,392 square metres of temporary encroachments were cleared, said a senior

Besides, 231 vehicles were impounded and 1,550 miscellaneous items were seized till yesterday, the said.

The East Municipal Corporation (EDMC) under the drive has demolished 200 platforms and seized over 200 vehicles encroaching right of way during the last week, the said.

The civic body has advised the PWD to use grills and bollards to prevent encroachments of roads from where reports of recurrence of unauthorised vending and parking have been received.

A special task force has been formed by the central government on the direction of the to remove encroachments in the national capital.
