But then the totals are new records for the home-sharing platform in Vancouver.
As per figures shared on Monday by Airbnb there have been as many as 9,339 guest arrivals in Vancouver in the weekend marking a 36% increase over the same dates in 2017. The typical price per night charged by every host was $127.
As a contrast, New Year’s Eve that was among the biggest nights of Airbnb witnessed 6,600 Airbnb guests who had arrived on 31st December, 2017.
It was the busiest weekend for Airbnb since Vancouver officially launched new short-term regulations on 18th April. Nearly 5% of all hosts this last weekend were first-time Airbnb hosts. The first timers earned an average of $282. Long-term hosts had earned an average of $375.
Airbnb is offering essential supplemental income for families in Vancouver to assist them in making ends meet as per Alex Dagg who is the Canadian public policy director of Airbnb.
Alex Dagg said that they are glad that their work with the City of Vancouver on implementing new short-term rental regulations is aiding the clarity that was required for new hosts to join their community.
He also added that they would like to encourage other platforms to stand up and work with the city as well.
