Dvorak wins chance to run in November Geauga County commissioners’ race

Eric Bonzar — The Morning Journal

Geauga County Republican voters who went to the polls for the May 8 primary election chose Burton Township Trustee Jim Dvorak over incumbent Geauga County Commissioner Walter M. “Skip” Claypool.

Dvorak garnered 6,144 votes compared to 5,259 for Claypool, according to unofficial final results from the Geauga County Elections Board.

Dvorak will face off against Middlefield Democrat Anita Blue Marlowe in the Nov. 6 General Election.

Claypool, who lives in Chester Township, was first appointed commissioner on July 10, 2012, by the county Republican Party to replace William S. Young, who had retired.

Dvorak is the Burton Township trustees’ vice chairman and has been a Geauga County resident for more than 30 years, according to Burton Township’s website.

Dvorak was not immediately available for comment after the results came in May 8.
