Bhopal: Former CM Shyama Charan Shukla’s daughter-in-law Dr Rachna Shukla, posted in Victoria Hospital, Jabalpur, has tendered her resignation to the administration. For past few days she has been a subject of the lethargic attitude of the local administration. Local BJP leader Titu Sonkar and his friends have threatened her with rape yet the local administration has failed to register an FIR despite her numerous complaints.
The incident occurred on February 5, when Shukla was manning the casualty ward and a BJP leader and his friends came to her with a girl child. After examination she advised them to consult an specialist. However this flared up the sentiments of the group including the BJP leader.
They went into an argument with her and threatened her with rape. In her letter to the director, family welfare, Dr Rachna Shukla she stated that she has tried her level best for the last three months but all in vain to lodge an FIR against the miscreants who have threatened me with rape. “They are enjoying the protection from the ruling party. I therefore prefer to tender my resignation.” she said in her letter.
In her Facebook post she said, “I was very angry .., yesterday• afternoon…and had decided…That I will not take up any medico legal case (MLC)…But a MLC came up…a Bahu has beaten her father in law, with the help of 4-5 gundas and … Painted his face with black ink…I felt very bad…I Immediately decided to perform this MLC…He was very, broken not by physical assault but the insult in market place… PERSON IS BROKEN WHEN HIS SELF RESPECT is hurt…He became hypertensive…MY DUTY AS A DOCTOR came first…So I dropped my stubbornness for not taking MLCs… Then why so much of apathy for Doctors (by local administration)…?” She further said, “My Father is a Retired Police Officer…Brother is a Lawyer. And I have dozens of relatives who are in Police and legal profession…. My younger brother is a Doctor at the same place…My real bhabhi’s brother is an incumber MLA from Congress…people are well aware of Crime…Still no FIR…,… People in my family are honest…We never misuse Power…And see the injustice…Not a piece of paper called FIR…”
