Catarina Pereira and Kyndra Carneiro's three-set win at second doubles gave Durfee a grind-it-out 3-2 girls' tennis win over Westport on Monday at the Diane B. Snyder Tennis Complex in Westport.

The Westport duo defeated Briana Quinlan and Sam McCarthy 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.

Durfee (4-5) also won first doubles as Amaya Travassos and Allison Holding swept Emily McMahon and Gabby Machairas 7-6 (3), 6-2 and third singles behind Adriana Fernandes (6-1, 6-3 over Kali Lima).

Westport won first singles behind sophomore Annie MacMaster (6-0, 6-0 over Faith Cronister) and second singles behind Amber Valcourt  (6-1, 6-3 over Kali Lima).

 

BOYS

Durfee 4, Westport 1: At Westport, the Hilltoppers (7-3) took everything but first singles in this win.

Cris Hutchins (6-1, 6-0) and Dick Cabral (7-6 [2], 6-4) won at second and third, respectively. Hutchins sports a 9-1 record.

In doubles, Tom Panchley/Luke Cabral won 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 at No. 1 while Ryan Mauricio/Baron Snizek prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2.

Westport's Evan Kidd won at first singles, 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 (STB) over Roger DeSouza.

Tiverton 7, Pilgrim 0: At Tiverton, Zeke Pacheco (6-0, 6-1), Dylan Clark (6-1, 6-2), Josh Dore (6-0, 6-0) and Matt Gacioch (6-1, 6-2) gave the Tigers (7-0) the singles sweeps in this Division 3 Central B match.

The winners in doubles were Will Brigham/Carson Hart (6-0, 6-0), Devin Guerrera/Ryan Ennis (6-0, 6-0) and Jake Vaillancourt/Danny Lopes (6-0, 6-1).
