Probe on into missing of woman

She was living alone for years

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Cherthala Dy.SP A.G. Lal has launched a probe into the missing of a woman from Kadakkarappally, near Cherthala, here.

The police said that they had commenced an investigation based on a complaint filed by P. Praveen Kumar of Padmanivas, Alumkal Junction, Kadakkarappally.

The complainant has alleged that his sister Bindhu, 44, who owns assets to the tune of crores, had gone missing.

“We have received a complaint from a person living abroad alleging that his sister was killed by some real-estate brokers and they had taken possession of her assets after forging documents. We have launched a detailed probe into the charges,” said a police officer.

According to Praveen, his sister lived a lonely life for several years.

In his complaint, he said that Bindhu, who had gone to Mumbai several years ago as a nursing student, came back and settled in the ancestral property after the death of their parents in 2002.

“As per the complainant, she was engaged in real-estate business in association with a broker hailing from Pallippuram. Praveen tried to contact her for the past two years, but could not trace her. Meanwhile, he had collected details of a land deal involving Bindhu under the Edappally sub-registrar office in Ernakulam in 2013. According to him, fake driving licence and power of attorney on behalf of Bindhu were used to prepare the documents. Only a detailed probe will reveal the facts,” the police officer added.
