He explained that the plan would aim on culture and heritage, film, art and entertainment, business tourism, nature and adventure, medical and wellness along with beach and leisure.
Ayorinde expressed this in a statement on Monday at the ongoing Y2018 Ministerial Briefing at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja in the memorial of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode third year in office. The commissioner stated that the desire of Ambode, to leave a legacy of a powerful tourism-driven economic condition, informed the idea of developing a master plan of 15 to 20 years.
To quote him, “In view of the reforms needed in the state’s tourism industry, the Lagos Tourism Summit was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in April 2018 to provide insightful content for the proposed master plan.”
“The forum provided local and international stakeholders, professionals, leading academics, scholars and researchers in the tourism, culture and entertainment industry and media practitioners to contribute to the blueprint.”
“The need to prepare the state ahead in terms of ideas, long-term investment, top-notch infrastructure and human capacity development necessary for the expected competition among tourism destinations all over the world requires a long-term strategic master plan.”
Earlier Ayorinde said that the state government published a calendar of sponsored and state-endorsed art and culture events to help the tourists and visitors on indigenous cultural festivals across the state.
