“Earlier, land below 3.125 acres was not allowed to be fragmented and sold. After the amendment, such sale or purchase done within a period of one year from the date of gazette notification of the amended Act will be valid,” said Haridwar MLA Adesh Chauhan. The amendment was brought on April 26 and details were made public on Monday.
Satish Srivastav, owner of a piece of land at Jamalpur village near Haridwar, said, “I’m glad restrictions on sale of land have been lifted.”
